Constructing a new learning opportunity for a university’s students
An internationally-recognized institute of higher education sought to establish a prototype for a Social Sciences and Behavioral Research Center.
Method:
G&R designed and conducted an AA&U study to serve as the initial information resource upon which the Institute could initiate additional research inquiries and establish a consulting relationship with potential company sponsors. The organizing topic of the research was healthcare and the focus was on gathering unique information about the needs and beliefs of millennials using online interviewing about attitudes and personality and their influence on healthcare behavior.
Result:
The study produced a deep base of information about young adults’ attitudes toward health, treatments, companies and advertising, in addition to group healthcare norms. Anchored by an understanding of the primary beliefs that drive preventative and prescriptive health behavior, unique opportunities to promote target behavior maintenance and change were identified. The study was successful in laying the foundation for what became the client’s Young Adult Research Institute.
